I chose to examine the (very public) cybersecurity incident at UnitedHealth Group for this project. Because I currently work for Optum, a subsidiary of UnitedHealth Group, I had a first hand experience with some of the ramifications of this incident. Remediating code vulnerabilities became a high priority very fast, and I personally closed the vulnerabilities of over 30 repos within the search and directory space.

That being said, I had a very narrow view of what had happened, and really only as it related to my job. This project gave me a much greater understanding of the reasons the incident occurred and the ways that the company and our customers were affected.
